I just had a baby 4.5 months ago, and, rightfully so, I have some baby weight to lose. I'm down to the last 5, but you know how annoying that last bit of weight can be. You're "almost" in your old clothes, but yet NOTHING fits. How is that possible??? When I started the pregnancy and I gained my first 5 lbs. everything still fit now I'm 5 lbs. off and I can barely get my jeans halfway up my thighs. Ugh.
So, lately I've become more and more interested in baking cakes and decorating them. I am even taking a Wilton class. This is amazing for me because with #1 I didn't leave the house by myself until he was 15 months old!
In any case, I love my new interest BUT of course I had to pick something that is: perishable and costly. Oh, and did I mention fattening?! We've been eating cake for 2 weeks straight. Granted, my 3 year old LOVES what mommy is doing, but I think my family is hoping I take up sewing... everyone seems to be on a diet!
What I love about baking is how relaxing it is. I'm so anxious to learn more, but the class is only 2 hours a week so although I went today, I have to wait until next week to learn more.
I've thought about getting the Cricut Cake Machine. Anyone else have one? It seems like something great to have, but, for some reason, I feel like I'm cheating the system. I want to make gorgeous cakes on my own yet the machine seems like such a fantastic way to make beautiful cakes in a short amount of time.
Anyway, I would love to know if any of you bake, have the CC machine, or would like to share some recipes. Please e-mail me Mayheminthemotherhood@gmail.com with pictures of your creations, recipes you'd like to share, or anything cake/baking related. I would love to hear about it!
Follow my family and I as we spend the next year surviving on one income without using our credit cards! Is this even possible for a family of four in today's recession? Follow along and find out. I'll also be checking out businesses run by mamas, the latest and greatest for kids, as well as just being real about motherhood!

I bake my own cakes from scratch & far & few between. My husband is diabetic, so the only way I cheat making them is subbing out the oil with applesauce when possible. Or better yet going to egg subsitute. I even add some zucchini into the chocolate cakes. I'm still finding new ways to cheat & still have the sweets, but it's difficult when my hubs just eats it all..lol. Either way, if you ever need some recipes or things I'm a foodie blogger :)
ReplyDeleteNot sure what a Cricut Cake Machine is, but now you have me interested :)

I Agree...those last few pounds are a nightmare, but after 11 kids I quit worrying about those pounds and just bought new clothes...after all, I deserved it! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky Jane
Raising kids can be a lot like weeding the rose bed...well worth it, but...OUCH!
